Wolfpack out-shoot Patriots

High school rifle shooters continued to put up big numbers earlier this week as the West Valley Wolfpack swept past the North Pole Patriots.

The Wolfpack won the air rifle portion of the match 2,261-2,086 and captured the smallbore match, 2,059-1,990.

Emily Williams and Tyler Pruce turned in personal-best air rifle scores for West Valley, 573 and 556 respectively, while Anna Quist (569) and Cale MacDonald (563) rounded out the Wolfpack lineup.

North Pole was led by Brenna Welch with a 528. Team captain Coby Smith posted a personal-best with a 522 and Ian Hacock came in with a personal-best 519. Brenna Schaake rounded out the squad with a 517.

Three junior varsity shooters had personal best air rifle scores for the Wolfpack —Tyler Brose with a 549, Nicole Plummer with a 536 and Matthew East with a 527. North Pole’s Jessica Hawks (456) also registered a personal best. West Valley won the match 2,086-1,719.

Pruce led West Valley’s smallbore team with a 541, followed by Bert Williams with a 526, Cale MacDonald at 522 and Quist at 470.

Hancock led the Patriots with a personal-best 515. Welch and Ryan Andrews also had personal-best scores of 498 and 473, respectively. Smith rounded out the squad with a 504.

North Pole junior varsity shooters Erika Blanchard (459) and Andrew Miller (349) notched personal-best scores.

Alternates Taylor Armstrong (361) of North Pole and Zane Nicholson (473) of West Valley also registered personal-best efforts.
