Einar Svensson

As a principal with the Alweg Company, he served as key engineer for the firm's development of monorail technology and construction worldwide. Perhaps most notably, he worked with Alweg in designing America's first commercial Monorail, built for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair -- constructed in 10 months and using cars manufactured in Germany.

He later went on to establish the Urbanaut firm based in North Bend, and held patents and trademarks on the Urbanaut monorail technology. Projects include the Urbanaut Wolmido Monorail in Incheon City, South Korea. A world authority on theoretical and practical aspects of monorails, he wrote and presented numerous papers and documentaries relating to monorail technology, engineering, construction costs, and operations.

He also did structural engineering for Gould Hall at the University of Washington, built in 1971. For several years he owned and managed his own national housing manufacturing business. He also had broad experience and investments in real estate development, which financed the Urbanaut technology development.

Throughout his life, Einar took part in cross-country ski competitions, several times a winner of World Master Championships and author of Ski Skating with Champions.
