Bryan Zagers

President's Award 2013, 2005Bryan Zagers earned both his BSCE and MSCE from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign, where he performed research on the behavior of steel-framed buildings with masonry infills. After graduating in 1997, Bryan took his interest in seismic performance to Coughlin Porter Lundeen, where he helps lead the firm’s efforts in seismic renovations and retrofits throughout the Puget Sound, as an Associate Principal with the firm.

Bryan specializes in historic renovation projects, and has provided seismic rehabilitation designs for some of the region’s most iconic buildings. His portfolio includes such award-winning successes as the Smith Tower, Alaska Building, King County Courthouse, the Lake Union Armory/MOHAI, the Cadillac Hotel, and the Joshua Green Building, all in Seattle.

Bryan has engaged with numerous local preservation organizations including Historic Seattle and the City of Seattle. The President's Award 2013 recognizes Bryan's work with the Existing Buildings Committee in shaping the City of Seattle's URM retrofit ordinance, providing leadership in the technical provision development process.

In 2021, he began service on the Board of the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation.
