Harry Powell

Born in Grenfell, Saskatchewan in 1901, Harry R. Powell attended the University of Toronto.

He opened his office in Seattle in 1926. His design work on bridges, waterfront structures, and reservoirs merited 16 national awards. The La Conner bridge (shown here) ranks among his most notable designs. He obtained eight patents on his water reservoir design ideas.

He took part in SEAW dating back to the organization's inception in 1950. In 1963, the American Society of Civil Engineers Seattle Section recognized Harry Powell as Civil Engineer of the Year.
