Chun Lau

Chun C. Lau received his BSCE from Northeastern University in 1981 and his MSCE from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1983. While living in the Boston area, he worked at LeMessurier Consultants as a Structural Engineer for six years before moving to Seattle in 1990.

He worked with Andersen Bjornstad Kane Jacobs Inc. for five years before joining Skilling Ward Magnusson Barkshire 1996-2001, then took a position as Senior Structural Engineer with the Port of Seattle 2001-02. He worked with Putnam Collins Scott before returning to the Port as Capital Projects Manager 2006-07, then with DCI Engineers and later Brown and Caldwell. Over the years his projects have included the University of Washington Henry Art Gallery Renovation and Expansion, and ASB Tower in the Philippines.

Chun joined SEAW in 1993, serving on the Lateral Forces Wind Subcommittee 1993-98 and as an instructor for the Lateral Force section of the SEAW Refresher Course before his Board service 1998-2000 and as SEAW representative to NCSEA. Community service also includes a term expiring 2016 on the Washington Department of Licensing Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.

He became the first SEAW member to serve simultaneously as both SEAW State and Seattle Chapter President, in 2016-17.
