 Tacoma native Charles A. "Cap" Pearson (1944-2023) graduated from Washington State University in 1967, then went on active duty with the US Air Force for two years.

In 1969 he began working with the City of Tacoma, becoming Supervisor of the Plan Review Section, Building Division, Tacoma Public Works Department.  He passed both the Civil and Structural Engineering exams.

In addition to his SEAW involvement, Cap took an active role with the ASCE and the WSPE, as President 1980-81.  He served as Chairman of State Professional Engineers in Government 1977-81.
