Paul Prochaska

October 29, 1944 - August 27, 2014Born to Czech parents in Vienna, Austria, Paul (Pavel) Prochaska lived the first 25 years of his life in Czech Republic. In October 1970, shortly after earning Masters degrees in civil and structural engineering from the Charles University of Prague, he immigrated to United States with his new bride, Renata.He first worked with Jordan/Avent, then in 1981 Paul and Renata founded CTS Engineers (Civil, Transportation, Structural), based in Bellevue. His work included the design and load rating of pedestrian, railroad and highway bridges; and also tunnels, culverts and retaining walls. He designed bridges using steel and concrete arches, pre-stressed concrete and steel girders, trusses, and post-tensioned and conventional concrete box girders.

He joined SEAW in 1974.

He took an active role in community activities ranging from youth soccer coach and referee for LWYSA, Habitat for Humanity, Redmond Rotary, assistant Spanish teacher, to the Eastside Bridge Club.
