Real-time Race Results with CrossMgr

Post date: Aug 26, 2013 12:07:27 PM

Want the announcer and race fans to get race information on their smart phones during the race (leaders and time gaps)?

Want them to be able to follow their specific rider in an animation around the course?

Read on!

Configuring CrossMgr for real-time results is easy, but you need to have a hosted web site with ftp capability.

Virtually all hosted sites offer this capability.

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Make sure you have an internet connection at your race.

  2. After configuring your race, go to "File/Publish HTML results with FTP..."

  3. Enter you ftp publish information (Ftp Host Name, User and Password are the most important). Set "Path on Host to Write HTML" if the files should go to another path on your server other than the default ftp upload folder.

  4. Enter the "URL Path" where the uploaded files are accessible from your website. This is the path, not the file (CrossMgr will create a filename based on the date and race name).

  5. Select "Automatically Upload Results During Race".

  6. Press "OK". This will do a test upload and open a browser on the results URL.

Now, when the race runs, CrossMgr will automatically upload the results to your site. CrossMgr will do this efficiently to keep the results updated while not wasting time uploading when the results have not changed.

That's it! Now you will have live results published during the race.

Now, let's help people find the results link!

Do a "File|Print Preview...". Notice the "QR-Code' on the right? That encodes the URL to the results. Spectators can take a picture of the QR-Code to directly go to the results link - no typing required.

Do a "File|Print...", and post this page, with its QR-Code on the results board before the race.

This will help spectators access the live results easily.

Pressing the "Refresh" button will update the results. The HTML web page will also update on every lap.
