TJ Cardenas is president of STC NY Metro. TJ is actively involved in overseeing chapter operations. His vision for NY Metro is to advance new ways to collaborate, connect, and engage the next generation of professionals while advancing thought leadership and practice of technical communications, content strategy, instructional design, data visualization, analytics, information architecture, and user experience.

As Senior Technical Content Strategist and tech writer at Medidata Solutions, TJ focuses on customer-facing content related to the workflow of clinical trials. In addition to management consulting experience exceeding 20+ years in diverse roles in life sciences, market research, professional services, and technology, his earlier tech comm-related roles included event marketing, product operations, and reference master data management in information services and publishing.

TJ has a Master of Architecture from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Stony Brook University.

First Vice President

Chris Boese is First Vice President of STC NY Metro and Vice President, User Experience with a global financial services firm. With 20 years experience leading teams in UX, platform design, information architecture, content strategy, and tech comm, Chris directs teams of specialists to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) optimization and cloud computing infrastructure. They upgrade customer service while reimagining, reinventing and rolling out new products and services.

A speaker, coach, and thought leader, Chris has a Ph.D. in Communications and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The STC NY Metro Board unanimously appointed Chris Boese as interim First Vice President in February 2019 when the First Vice President ascended to President. Chris dived right in and has been actively involved in formulating chapter programs and events especially the popular, Tech Comm Takes The Lead series. Recently, Chris moderated the very successful event, The Changing Role of Smart Collaboration: Reaching Across Silos And Driving Dynamic Impact In The Digital Age of Social Media and Artificial Intelligence.

Jonathon Wilson is Second Vice President of STC NY Metro and Technical Content Strategist at Medidata Solutions. With 13 years of experience in tech comm and multimedia production, Jonathon manages the client-facing content for several Medidata applications including Cloud Administration and one of Medidata's newest breakthrough product offerings, Rave Omics. Leveraging Google Analytics, he has led a Knowledge Analytics initiative for the past two years, uncovering insights and patterns in user behavior as customers explore, search, and interact with Medidata's applications and knowledge spaces.Newly elected to the NY Metro Board, Jonathon pursued a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at Auburn University and a Master of Arts in English Literature, with a certificate in Technical Writing, at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He has also completed the Google Analytics Individual Qualification training and exam.

Steven Weintraub is Third Vice President of STC NY Metro and Experience Designer and contractor with Digital Operations at Verizon Wireless, a leader in transforming how people, businesses, and things connect with each other. With technology, data, and teamwork, Steven leverages his user experience (UX), usability, and tech comm expertise to support Verizon connected solutions and services including VerizonWireless.com, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and digital wallet payment options. Newly elected to the NY Metro Board, Steven has a Master of Science in Technical Communication from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. As Adjunct Faculty member at New Jersey Institute of Technology, Steven teaches a graduate-level course in User Experience Design in the Ying Wu College of Computing, Department of Informatics.

Scott McCoy

Scott McCoy is Treasurer STC NY Metro. An Instructional Designer and a Technical Communicator, Scott believes there is much to do to ensure that every New York Metro STC Member, regardless of their physical location and membership level, can benefit from the services of our dynamic chapter. As immediate past president and earlier Second VP, Scott worked with the NY Metro STC Board to implement policies and procedures that will gain New York Metro the international recognition that it deserves.Scott attended the 2012 Summit and leadership sessions to further understand what the international society can do for the chapter, opened discussions with other chapters and special interest groups (SIGs). Scott would like to see STCNY bring education and social programs to locations in New Jersey and Connecticut as our membership now spans multiple states and international locations. In addition, while at the Summit, he found areas where NY members can contribute to the betterment of STC. All levels of membership from Student to Fellow will benefit from these measures like the Technical Communication Body of Knowledge (TCBOK).

Ronald Hinds is currently a student at New York City College of Technology, CUNY, pursuing a major in Professional and Technical Writing. As a lifelong learner, the degree builds on his past professional experience as a transportation professional with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, New York City Transit for 26 years. A seasoned supervisor and manager, Ronald spent 21 years at the MTA as a Car Inspector, and 8 years as an insurance company customer service supervisor corresponding with policyholders and managing my team. In addition to his STC membership, Ronald is also affiliated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Elected to the Board in late 2018, Ronald has been very engaged in membership development, reach out to students, and overseeing official non-financial records of the chapter. Ronald attended the STC 2019 Summit to advance his professional development, gain broader insight into the community, and work towards his certification.

Aiessa Moyna

Aiessa Moyna is currently Board Advisor and Election Committee Chairperson for STC NY Metro. Previously, Aiessa served as Treasurer of STC International and Chair of the Finance and Investment Committee, responsible for the annual budget, financial reserves, and financial processes of the Society. An Associate Fellow, she joined STC in 1984. Aiessa works at American Express Company as a Communications Director in the Technologies division. In this role, she serves as a communications consultant to the Chief Information Officer and consults on project team communications.Aiessa attended the 2019 STC Summit and was involved in the Education Program. To the credit of STC NY Metro and her own accomplishments, Aiessa received the highly coveted, President's Award, Society of Technical Communication.

Aiessa has served STC in a variety of roles at the community, regional, and Society level. At the Society level, she has served on ad-hoc PR committees considering STC branding, industry/media audiences, and tools for community PR managers. At the community level, she has served the New York Metro, Phoenix, Southern Nevada, and New Mexico Tech Student chapters in offices from treasurer to the president. She led such committees as employment, programs, and scholarship. She also judged local and regional competitions, coordinated student writing contests, and served on regional conference planning committees. Aiessa is a recipient of numerous awards including the STC President's Award, Distinguished Chapter Service Award, and has led teams that won Distinguished and Excellence awards in the STC PR Competition.

Donna Riedman is the Membership Development Committee chairperson for STC NY Metro and Technical Documentation Manager at Enzo Life Sciences, Inc.

Newly appointed to her role as chairperson, Donna has a Master of Science in Biology from Adelphi University and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Stony Brook University.

Malu Schloss

Malu Schloss is a tech comm pro, thought leader, speaker, talent acquisition and training professional, and manager. Malu collaborates with managers in organizations on their initiatives to attract and match the best specialist, technical or management talent for Technical Communications and Learning and Development engagements.As a learning and technical communications consultant, Malu advises and collaborates with organizations, specializing in the development of documentation, marketing, communications, engaging eLearning, training, or performance support strategies.

A past president of STC NY Metro, Malu has been overseeing the Regional Tech Comm Competition Committee as Chairperson for the past nine years. Over this period, participation in the Regional Tech Comm Competition has grown to include entries and judges from multiple chapters including Atlanta, Houston, New England, Philadelphia, New York, Rochester, and for 2019-2020 Washington DC-Baltimore.
