The benefits of Performance Support--accelerated on-boarding time and far greater on-the-job retention--are attracting new interest among L&D and support personnel. They can understand the value of delivering actionable action at the Point of Performance, but few can envision how they themselves could design and implement a PS solution to strengthen their own learning blends and deliverables. The methodology seems too ill-defined, the technology too alien, and the tools too costly.

In this session, Hal Christensen, a long-time Performance Support advocate and practitioner, and Chair of the ATD NYC Performance Support SIG, will demonstrate how anyone could create a small-scale PS tool to bolster their training efforts back on the job. He will whittle PS solutions down to their minimal elements. Then, using tools we all already have and are familiar with, he will walk the audience through a four-step process of 1) organizing the context in which the content will be delivered, 2) authoring and curating the appropriate content within that context, 3) assembling and implementing all of the pieces into a single cohesive framework, and 4) delivering the support content at the Point of Performance.
