U1 v Brighton 2
Another sketchy report because I was again involved in a tense struggle so didn't get up much to see the other games.
However, Chaski again won on Board 1, though we need to report that he missed a mate in one during the game. To be fair he won his opponents queen and the game instead.
Mark on Board 2 had a tense struggle and everything just about held together and appeared to have stabilised when my opponent launched an attack on my king. He did, however allow me to capture a centre pawn and whilst short of time decided to capture a doubled pawn of mine. This allowed the opening of the d file for my queen with tempo...and essentially mate a few moves later. Finally off the mark.
Graham on 3 also scored his first (half) point of the season drawing with a very experienced opponent, it all seemed very calm.
Simon appeared to be doing well, but my guess is that he fell prey to a tactic and lost whilst Stephen on Board 5 lost to a kingside pawn storm.
So overall a creditable draw against one of the stronger teams in the league. Thankyou to everyone, although we haven't yet won a match we are holding our own with 2 points from our first three matches...lower mid table, thankfully not 3 for a win in the MSCL.
