Lewes 2 v Uckfield 1

Not a great night for the team.  Tuesdays look like poor nights to play as we had a team of 4 (defaulting one board) versus Lewes 2.  Sadly they did not appear to be suffering from the previous bonfire night revels and we went down 4-1.

Chaski was the only success of the night, in a complicated Spanish sacrificing a knight on g7 for an attack.  It wasn't atall clear that the attack would get through as black had defensive resources that complicated matters.  At the end Chaski's opponent resigned whilst playing only with the 30 second increment for each move, Chaski himself not atall sure that this was the correct decision.

Arran on Board 2 found his queen tempted out early and then chased around, losing it for two pieces.  After a very long struggle Arran bowed to the almost inevitable.

Mark on 3 was faced with a sicilian and the first 10 moves were pretty level, white maintaining his slight advantage in a complicated position.  It then all went wrong and a couple of inaccuracies, combined with his opponent finding the right moves (more or less) led to defeat.

Brian on Board 4 seemed to have the better of a closed position but blundered a piece for nothing, which again led eventually to defeat.

Note to fixtures secretary---we'll refuse to play on Tuesdays again.
