Uckfield 2 v Worthing 4

Just a quick reminder that it is a club session tomorrow and all would be welcome.  The second team have the last match of the season against Sussex University during the session, which should be entertaining as they are currently placed fourth in the division and we are trying to field our strongest possible team for a final flourish, all of whom have been notified separately and acknowledged selection.

This is even more necessary as at the last club session against Worthing 4 we did not fare that well. It was a case of after the Lord Mayor’s Show following our previous biggest win of the season:- Artur on board 1 lost out to a knight fork and although battling against the exchange down did not survive; Carel on 4 had his queen caught on a skewer and had to give up a rook to survive just a little longer, and Steve on 5 was doing very well with a shot at winning, but then blundered a piece;  Ian on 2 never looked in any trouble and in the early middle game gained a piece, from which he never looked back; my own match on 3 saw momentum swing throughout the game and although at one stage I was a pawn up in the endgame, time became a factor and I could not move to advantage without risk of loss of position and maybe material, so as we reached the end of the session and given the team match was lost, I agreed a draw.  So a 1.5-3.5 loss.
