Uckfield 1 v Crowborough

At the last club session, our first team were at home in an important Division 2 fixture against old rivals Crowborough.  I have not seen a summary of the match from Mark as captain, but from a non-playing view I was impressed with the commitment of all of our team to the battle. Our opponents had managed to secure the attendance of Amardip Aluwahlia on Board 1, whom all of our juniors know as one of the best young players Sussex has. Such is his development that he chooses tournaments and matches now such as playing in the British championships and for England. Clearly he was attracted – and Crowborough desperate – by the prospect of playing Chaski on Board 1. Yet again I personally found that game so interesting and was yet again impressed and inspired by the manner in which Chaski broke him down.  Unfortunately this meant that they were able to drop down Dave Fryer, Robert Elliston and JAN Lawrence to lower boards, which significantly outranked our team by 22 points.  As I have said, I was still impressed by the individual battles, but sadly we went down 4-1 in the end.

So currently our first team sits at the bottom of Division 2.
