Smokehouse

This apple is also known as English Vandervere, Gibbons Smokehouse, Millcreek, Millcreek Vandervere, and Red Vandervere. It was discovered by William Gibbons in 1837 in Vandervere, Pennsylvania. It is a large apple with a flattish shape. It has greenish-yellow skin, flushed to a red stripe, with russet dots over much of its surface and crisp, yellowish, fine-grained flesh.

Uses: Fresh eating, juice/cider, sauce, baking (stays in slices)
