Buckeye Gala

This is a sport of Imperial Gala, and was discovered by Dan Simmons, of Peace Valley Orchards, in Rogers, Ohio, approximately 15 miles south of Youngstown. It is a medium sized apple and highly colored, almost solid red with a deep burgundy stripe. The flavor is sweet like other Galas, with maybe a slightly more tangy taste.

Flavor: Sweet

Uses: Fresh eating, juice/cider, sauce, baking (stays in slices)

*Best when mixed with other varieties for sauces/baking, excellent lunch box apple
