Royal Show Competition Classes
The Guild sponsors the Adelaide Royal Show competition prizes in spinning, weaving and related crafts as well as running a stall selling goods made by members.
Members and other interested crafters are encouraged to enter the competition classes of their interest.

Entry forms for the competition, available from the Adelaide Royal Show's website, are due by mid June.
Exhibits must be delivered to the Royal Show in late August for judging before being put on display in the Handicrafts Hall.
Winners are announced on the Royal Show website.
Spinning Classes
Spinning Perfection, three skeins, (50 grams each, fine, medium and bulky), handspun from any natural fibre/s, emphasis placed on perfection of spinning. Include samples of unspun fibres used.
Spinning/Dyeing, two skeins (50 grams each), of handspun yarn from any natural fibre/s with emphasis placed on dyeing ability and colour. Use a different type of dye for each skein. Include samples of unspun fibre/s used and state type of dye and method application.
Spinning (Creative, Novelty), one skein only (50 grams) of handspun yarn. No restrictions. Include samples of unspun fibre/s used to construct your yarn.

Weaving, stole or scarf, woven from any yarn, any fibre content.

Garment - knitted or crocheted, using any natural handspun fibre. Single colour or mixed, natural and/or dyed, showing two or more techniques. Please include a sample of the wool used.
Garment, using two or more techniques (knitted, crocheted, woven etc.) employing at least 50% hand spun yarn, natural or dyed colours. Please include a sample of the wool used.
Garment, woven, made from any commercial and/or hand spun natural fibre/s, natural or dyed colours. Please include a sample of the wool used.
Scarf or wrap - knitted or crocheted, using natural handspun fibre, single or mixed colours, natural and/or dyed. Please include a sample of the handspun wool used.

New Competition Class in 2023
Class 271: Handspinning and Weaving Guild 2023 Challenge
The Handspinners and Weavers Guild celebrate its 60th anniversary this year. The Challenge will reflect that milestone with the theme of Diamonds. This can be any article reflecting this theme and using any technique (s), including weaving, spinning, knitting, crochet, felting, kumihimo, braiding, macrame, and using any commercial and/or hand spun natural fibre/s, natural or dyed colours.
$60.00 prize, sponsored by the Handspinners and Weavers Guild of SA
