Birthday Challenge

All Guild members are invited to join the the for-fun Guild Birthday Challenge.

    • The theme of the challenge is announced by the end of the previous year. Members are asked to create something illustrating the theme then bring their piece to the Guild's May Birthday meeting.

    • All entries are displayed at the meeting.

    • All members vote for the People's Choice, with the winner announced at the May meeting.

2023 is the Guild's 60th anniversary year,
so the Birthday Challenge theme is
Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend (one of the songs sung by Marilyn Monroe in the 1953 film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes).
What else!

What might this inspire you to create? Something that features diamonds (lots of weaving and knitting patterns feature diamonds)
or something sparkly that Marilyn Monroe might have loved?

You supply the fibre and make something large or small,
that tickles your fancy.

Bring it in to the May Birthday meeting , for all to admire and vote on. Voting will be in two categories: People's Choice and best use of the theme.

2020 and 2021 Birthday Challenge theme was: I <3 fibre!

People's Choice went to Sharn for her Fair Isle beret, with Helen's fine 2 ply merino and silk handspun and Shelby's knitting needle case sharing second prize.
