About Us

Members of the Handspinners and Weavers Guild of South Australia have been spinning, weaving and crafting since 1963.

  • We help maintain skills and techniques that have been passed down for generations and encourage the development of new techniques and ideas that make our crafts more relevant to modern lifestyles.

  • Our crafts know no national boundary and are as ancient as human history. The threads of spinning and weaving bind us to our ancestors, but our crafts are as modern as today and continue to develop and change.

  • Our aim is to promote the growth of spinning, weaving, and associated crafts, which are a part of the heritage of the world.

The Guild is located at 196 South Road, Mile End, South Australia.

Guild meetings are held on the first Saturday of the month except in January when the meeting is replaced by a Picnic In The Park. Check the calendar for the actual date for the Picnic.

The Guild News is published bi-monthly. It is posted or emailed to all members and can be downloaded from this website.

An eBulletin is emailed each month, except January, to anyone who asks for it but can be downloaded from this website.

The Guild is managed by a Committee, elected at the October Annual General Meeting. Anyone who has been a Guild member for a year or more may nominate for any position on the Committee. The Guild is governed by a constitution, bylaws and policies.
