Selling in the Gallery

Every member has the right to have their work displayed for sale providing their work meets certain standards (as listed on the Gallery's noticeboard).

You don't have to have something for sale in the Gallery to join the roster or Gallery sub-committee.

All Guild members are invited to join the Gallery's staffing roster or the Gallery management sub-committee.

For members selling work through the Gallery:

  • It is important that work is presented in an attractive way, so a buyer wants to purchase it. Items which have been stored can become hard (due to residual grease) or smell musty, of mothballs or camphor. Please wash them in wool-wash to make them pliant and pleasant to touch or smell.

  • All goods submitted must be identified with your name and membership number only. (Your address, phone number, etc. will not be displayed.)

  • Size (for garments) and weight (for skeins) is vital information to include on your work.

  • The fibre content needs to be identified and care labels attached.

  • Skeins of handspun wool benefit from being rewound after washing. Skeins need to be marked with their weight (in grams) and their length (in metres).

  • A suggested price list is on the Gallery noticeboard. If you have any doubts, assessors or any member of the Gallery committee can help. GST will be taken on the commission which goes to the Gallery.
