Blizzard Bags

January 23, 2018

Attention Teachers:

In the event that any additional calamity days occur during the 2017-18 school year, Dohn Commuity High School will be utilizing Blizzard Bag assignments to make up for missed instructional time. This is being communicated to students and parents via the morning announcements, as well as notification on our website under the "students" tab.

In the event that any additional calamity days occur during the 2017-18 school year, please follow procedures listed below.

If you teach at the SATELLITE LOCATIONS:

  • Students should be logging into their online APEX and/or Acellus courses at home during the calamity day. When they return to school, please work with them to ensure they are understanding the material and working through it at their own pace.

If you teach a core class (bells 1 & 2) at the FITNESS ACADEMY or MAIN BUILDING:

  • Click on the link below to access the Blizzard Bag assignments for your content area.
  • Within each content area folder, there are assignments for each calamity day issued. In each folder you will find two versions of each Blizzard Bag (one for general education students and one for special education students that receive modified work).
  • On the day we return to school, it will be your responsibility to download, print, and copy the Blizzard Bag assignment(s) for your students. While students will be able to access the assignments themselves online, we know that the vast majority of our students lack internet resources at home. Because of this, we must provide a hardcopy of the Blizzard Bag assignment(s) once students return to school.
  • After you pass the assignment out to your first and second period students, please review the expectations of the assignments with them, and communicate that the Blizzard Bag assignment(s) MUST be turned in within one week.
  • Print a class roster for your first and second period class.
  • As students turn in their Blizzard Bag assignment(s) to you, place a check mark by their name indicating which Blizzard Bag assignment(s) they have completed.
  • At the end of the one-week period, HIGHLIGHT the name of any student on your first and second period roster that did not complete a Blizzard Bag assignment.
  • Place your name in the upper righthand corner of the roster.
  • Turn the roster into Ms. Miller's mailbox.
  • As a teacher, you may assign credit and/or grades for the assignment as you see fit. A student may receive an incomplete or failing grade on the assignment if the lesson is not completed on time.
  • If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Miller.
