Service Minutes

· Intervention specialists will create a Google Spreadsheet with their service schedules and share the document with the appropriate general education teachers, Dr. Williams, and Ms. Miller.

· Ms. Miller will post the link to the service schedule on the curriculum website.

· As teachers are taking period attendance in Progress Book, they will consult the service schedule and write the necessary passes for students to be excused to work on their IEP goals.

· General education teachers will send students at the appropriate time to be serviced.

· Time permitting, intervention specialists will assist students with class work or send them back to class as soon as possible.

- Moving forward, Ms. Miller and Dr. Williams will be copied on all section 7 emails.

- All section 7s for new students will be emailed weekly no later than Wednesday.

IEP Invitations

· Email invitations for all IEP meetings and ALL attempts will be sent to gen ed teachers, cc Emily Miller and Dr. Williams.

IEP Signatures- Fitness Academy and Main ONLY

· IEP Signatures will now only be obtained either before or after school.

IEP Meetings

· Intervention specialists will schedule meetings before or after school whenever possible.

· If a general education teacher wishes to attend an IEP, reply all to the invitation indicating that you will be present; if sub coverage is needed email Ms. Miller.

Security at Fitness

· The security team has agreed to notify teachers before removing students from class. The gen-ed teacher needs to notify security not to remove a student unless it is absolutely necessary if they are scheduled for service minutes.

Student Refusal

· Student refusal is an unfortunate aspect of providing special education services to high school students. That said, parent communication and team decisions are the most important components of effective service delivery.

Moving forward, the following protocol should be adhered to at all times if a student refuses services:

· If a student refuses to leave the gen ed room for services, have the student sign and date the refusal form. Provide the form to the intervention specialist at the end of each day. The form can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BhLKH74GNtxQP_xrVsKGP7R2wOsznzpP/view?usp=sharing

- Inform the intervention specialist of refusal.

- As a team (gen ed teacher and intervention specialist) contact the parent (phone conference).

- If refusal is chronic, follow the same procedure a second time; intervention specialist will contact Student Support Services main office.

· If a student refuses services while in the intervention specialist’s classroom, have the student sign and date the refusal form. Place form in the student file.

- Inform the gen ed teacher of refusal.

- As a team (intervention specialist and gen ed teacher)

- If refusal is chronic, follow the same procedure a second time; intervention specialist will contact Student Support Services main office.

- Provide Student Support Services Main office with all documentation of student’s refusal (signed refusal forms and any notes concerning parent communication).

Sub Plans

· If a teacher has a planned absence, s/he needs to incorporate the passes for the students in with their sub plans.
