THE LOCATIONS AND COLORS OF THE CHAKRAS

The human body has many chakras, however we will focus on the seven major chakras that are located along the center of the body.

(First Chakra) The Root chakra is located at the genitals on the front of the body, and the base of the spine, the coccyx or tailbone of the back. The center is the sexual/genital area, the gateway of birth and the reproductive organs.

(Second Chakra) The Belly chakra is frontally located in the lower abdomen, between the root chakra and the navel. The chakra is rooted in the spinal column at the first lumbar vertebra, and it corresponds to the ovaries in women ant spleen in men.

(Third Chakra) The Solar Plexus chakra is located just above the navel below the center breast bone. It’s spinal location is at the eighth thoracic vertebra. This chakra corresponds to the adrenals, pancreas, and stomach.

(Fourth Chakra) The Heart chakra is located between the breasts, in the center of the breastbone; at the back its location is the first thoracic vertebra between and below the shoulder blades. This chakra corresponds with the Thymus, Heart, and Circulation.

(Fifth Chakra) The Throat chakra is located in the front at the base of the neck, at the hollow of the collarbone, with its spiral rooted in the third cervical vertebras at the back, the spine at the base of the skull. This chakra corresponds to the Thyroid, Lungs, Ears, Nose and Throat.

(Sixth Chakra) The Third Eye chakra is frontally just above and between the physical eyes, and at the first cervical vertebra of the spine at the back. This chakra corresponds to the eyes and pituitary gland.

(Seventh Chakra) The Crown chakra physical front and back location is at the top of the head, slightly to the back. This chakra corresponds to the pineal and pituitary gland.

The chakras are not physical. They are aspects of consciousness in the same way that the auras are aspects of consciousness. The chakras are more dense than the auras, but not as dense as the physical body. They interact with the physical body through two major vehicles, the endocrine system and the nervous system. Each of the seven chakras is associated with one of the seven endocrine glands, and also with a group of nerves called a plexus. Thus, each chakra can be associated with particular parts of the body and particular functions within the body controlled by that plexus or that endocrine gland associated with that chakra.

When you feel tension in your consciousness, you feel it in the chakra associated with that part of your consciousness experiencing the stress, and in the parts of the physical body associated with that chakra. Where you feel the stress depends upon why you feel the stress. The tension in the chakra is detected by the nerves of the plexus associated with that chakra, and transmitted to the parts of the body controlled by that plexus. When the tension continues over a period of time, or to a particular level of intensity, the person creates a symptom on the physical level.

A great way of applying essential oils is on chakras.

"Balancing your chakras improves your health and wellbeing, physically, mentally and emotionally. Anyone can learn how to do this and experience a long-lasting feeling of well-being every day of their lives.

Chakras are wheels of light located all over our body. We have thousands of them in our body but the seven major ones are located along our spine from its base to the crown of the head. Each chakra is represented by a colour of the rainbow - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.

    • Crown Chakra - Top of Head - Violet

    • Third Eye/Brow Chakra - Above & between eyebrows - Indigo

    • Throat Chakra - Base of throat - Blue

    • Heart Chakra - Centre of chest - Green

    • Solar Plexus Chakra - Just above navel - Yellow

    • Sacral Chakra - Just below navel - Orange

    • Root/Base Chakra - Base of spine - Red

Chakras are like the power stations of our body, bringing it to life, and keeping it healthy. Each chakra is associated with different parts of us and they need to spin totally in balance for us to feel good.

The chakras absorb energy that comes from our thoughts, feelings and outside environment and feed this to our body. Our body is affected by the quality of the energy that passes through the chakras. For instance, if we have negative feelings, we will be filtering negative energy through our chakras and into our body Over time this can make our body ill. Our chakras also absorb energy from the environment. Other people's negative emotions or a room full of clutter will produce an unhealthy energy which we absorb.

Spending a few minutes balancing your chakras before you get out of bed in the morning is a wonderful way to start the day, making you feel full of life, positivity and hope. Balancing your chakras before you go to sleep at night will calm you down, ease your mind and promote a wonderful night's sleep. If you want to do it during the day, then you must find a quiet space and time for yourself.

Each chakra is associated with different body parts, emotions and life areas, so in balancing each chakra, you will be giving energy and help to any issues or problems you have. There are too many areas to discuss in one article, but very general associations are shown below:

    • Root Chakra - Survival, Security, Energy, Trust, Power to achieve

    • Part of body - Skeleton, Legs, Bones, Spine, Large intestine

    • Sacral Chakra - Feelings, Self-awareness, Self-love, Creativity

    • Part of body - Kidneys, Bladder, Sexual organs, Reproductive system

    • Solar Plexus Chakra - Personality, Self-respect, Self-confidence

    • Part of body - Digestive system, Small intestine, Skin, Nervous system

    • Heart Chakra - Love, Compassion, Sharing, Forgiveness

    • Part of body - Heart, Chest, Lungs, Arms, Hands, Circulation

    • Throat Chakra - Creative self-expression, Communication, Inspiration

    • Part of body - Throat, Neck, Nose, Mouth, Teeth

    • Third Eye Chakra - Intuition, Understanding, Insight, Realisation

    • Part of body - Eyes, Ears, Base of skull, Nervous system

    • Crown Chakra - knowing, wholeness, perfection, enlightenment, unity

    • Part of body - Upper skull, Skin

There are different methods of balancing the chakras. Some people use coloured crystals, as the energy vibrations of colours aids balancing. Essential oils can be used for their healing vibrations. Visualisation is powerful, as thought is energy. Affirmations made while chakra balancing create positive feelings. Whichever methods are used or combined, chakra balancing offers very positive results - improving your health and making you feel good about yourself.

From Awaken to Healing Fragrance/ Elizabeth Anne Jones

There are seven major energy circles from the top of the head to the bottom of the spine that move clockwise or counter clockwise. Hindu yogis in India first discovered them. They are connections between the gross physical body and the subtle aura levels. Chakras make the aura brighter or dimmer with their capacity for transmission as well as reception. Each chakra goes out to the seven fields of energy in the aura. Energy from the higher vibrational levels is stepped down the chakras to the special nervous and glandular centers in the physical body.

The health of each organ system depends on proper functioning of the associated chakra. For example, the throat chakra brings in subtle enrgy for a stable thyroid, and the solar plexus creates a balanced digestive system. Each layer of the aura is paired with a chakra, for example, the etheric layer with the base chakra. Each of the seven chakras has a front-of-the-body part that is related to the person's feeling and a back part that is related to the person's will. Energy flows into all chakras from the universal energy source. They are like whirlpools of dazzling energy unless our emotions and thoughts have shut them down. When we block our personal experience and feelings, we disfigure our chakras. This leads to disease and distorted consciousness.

To test the chakra, lie down and have your partner check the chakra with a pendulum. With a healthy, open chakra, the pendulum will spin in an active, clockwise direction over the chakra. Using essential oils on the crystal (pendulum), we can magically realign the crystal spin to move clockwise and greatly activate and realign a closed or partially closed chacra. This is a clear demonstration of the power of essential oils on the energetic level with only one drop of oil.

Chakras are spinning vortexes of energy, which both take in and emit life-force energy. There are eight main chakras down the centerline of the body, from the top of the head to the bottom of the torso. When all chakras are spinning evenly and in concert with one another, the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual systems of the body are in balance. Therapeutic-grade essential oils are excellent for balancing and blending the chakras.

The following is a basic reference for how to use essential oils for activating and balancing the energy centers—chakras—of the body.

First Earth: The Root (or Base) Chakra

Essential oils: Valor® essential oil, Abundance™ essential oil

Apply topically to the bottoms of the feet and sacrum.

The root (or base) chakra is the first and most important chakra for yoga or any kind of healing work. The key words here are courage, security, safety, grounding, and boundaries.

Second Water: The Sacral Chakra

Essential oils: Peace & Calming® essential oil, Harmony™ essential oil

Apply topically below the navel.

The sacral chakra is the center of your creativity, desire, emotion, sexuality, and intuition. This is where you learn how to give and receive pleasure.

Third Fire: The Solar Plexus Chakra

Essential oils: Harmony™ essential oil , En-R-Gee™ essential oil

Apply topically below the sternum and behind the stomach.

The solar plexus chakra is the center of personal power, ambition, intellect, astral force, desire, and emotions based on intellect and touch.

Fourth Air: The Heart Chakra

Essential oil: Joy™ essential oil

Apply topically to the center of the chest at heart level.

The heart chakra is the center of compassion, love, group consciousness, and spiritually associated with "oneness" with "all that is."

Fifth Ether: The Throat Chakra

Essential oils: Believe™ essential oil, Valor® essential oil

Apply topically to the posterior neck and the base of the occiput (the back part of the head or skull).

The throat chakra is the center of communication, sound, and expression of creativity via thought, speech, and writing.

Sixth Light: Third Eye Chakra

Essential oils: Frankincense essential oil, Peppermint essential oil

Apply topically to the middle of the forehead and above the eyebrows.

The third eye chakra is the center of physic power, higher intuition, the energies of the spirit, magnetic forces, and light. This center is about Divine Thought, balanced intuition, and intellect.

Seventh Crown: The Crown Chakra

Essential oils: Frankincense essential oil, Lavender essential oil

Apply to the crown of the head.

The crown chakra is the center of spirituality, enlightenment, dynamic thought, and energy. The keyword is inspiration. This is the connecting link to your highest and finest self.

In the beginning of my day, right before I begin my meditation I apply different oils, depending on how my spirit moves me.

If I feel a need for protection from possible negative energies I apply White Angelica. I take several deep breaths of the scent from my hands. The smell is heavenly and I get the feeling that my angles are with me and protecting me.

I am a Reiki Master and I also practice Raindrop Technique, so before I do either of these therapies, I ALWAYS apply White Angelica to protect myself from any unwanted negative energies. This is very important to do, as other peoples energies can affect your emotional well being.

When I feel like my day is going to be full and hectic and I want to be assured that I will have a balanced harmonic day, I will apply Harmony. Another wonderful essential oil blend and a beautiful soft scent. I of course will also breath in the scent from my hands.

Either of these oils I apply to my Crown, Third Eye, Heart and Solar Plexus Chakra's. I believe that my day is more blessed by doing this and I smell great too!!

It is easy to start a practice of utilizing the emotional healing of essential oils by choosing an oil that suits you and by applying them to your chakra points. Go ahead and give it a try and take note of the changes you may experience.
