OH Jang

The following is a written version of Oh Jang the fifth of the Taeguek Poomse. The techniques are also written in Korean in brackets adjacent.

This poomse is for green belt blue tag (5th Kup) students in order to obtain their blue belt (4th Kup).

From ready stance (junbiseogi):

  1. Move the left foot to the left into a left forward stance (wen apkubi) and execute a left low section block (araemakki).
  2. Draw the left foot towards the right into a left stance (wenseogi) and execute a left downward hammer fist strike (mejumeok naeyochigi).
  3. Turn to the right into a right forward stance (oreun apkubi) and execute a right low section block (araemakki).
  4. Draw the right foot towards the left into a right stance (oreunseogi) and execute a right downward hammer fist strike (mejumeok naeyochigi).
  5. Moving the left foot, turn 90 degrees into a left forward stance (wen apkubi) and execute an inner mid section block (momtong anmakki), left arm. Without moving the feet execute a reverse inner mid section block (momtong anmakki), right arm.
  6. Execute a right front kick (oreunbal apchagi). Set the right foot down into a right forward stance (oreun apkubi) and execute a right back fist (deungjumoek apchigi), followed by a reverse inner mid section block (momtong anmakki), left arm.
  7. Execute a left front kick (wenbal apchagi). Set the left foot down into a left forward stance (wen apkubi) and execute a left back fist (deungjumoek apchigi), followed by a reverse inner mid section block (momtong anmakki), right arm.
  8. Step forward into a right forward stance (oreun apkubi) and execute a right back fist (deungjumoek apchigi).
  9. Moving the left foot, turn 270 degrees counter clockwise into a left back stance (wen dwitkubi) and execute a knife hand outer mid section block (halsonnal momtong bakkatmakki), left arm.
  10. Step forward into a right forward stance (oreun apkubi) and execute a right inward elbow strike (palkup dollyochigi).
  11. Moving the right foot, turn 180 degree clockwise into a right back stance (oreun dwitkubi) and execute knife hand outer mid section block (halsonnal momtong bakkatmakki), right arm.
  12. Step forward into a left forward stance (wen apkubi) and execute a left inward elbow strike (palkup dollyochigi).
  13. Moving the left foot turn 90 degrees counter clockwise into a left forward stance (wen abkubi) and execute a left low section block (araemakki), followed by a reverse inner mid section block (momtong anmakki), right arm.
  14. Execute a right front kick (oreunbal apchagi). Set the right foot down into a right forward stance (oreun apkubi) and execute a right low section block (araemakki), followed by a reverse inner mid section block (momtong anmakki), left arm.
  15. Moving the left foot, turn 90 degrees counter clockwise into a left forward stance (wen apkubi) and execute a left high rising block (ogulmakki).
  16. Execute a right side kick (oreunbal yopchagi). Set the right foot down into a right forward stance (oreun apkubi) and execute a left elbow target strike (palkup pyojeokchigi).
  17. Moving the right foot, turn 180 degrees clockwise into a right forward stance (oreun apkubi) and execute a right high rising block (ogulmakki).
  18. Execute a left side kick (wenbal yopchagi). Set the left foot down into a left forward stance (wen apkubi) and execute a right elbow target strike (palkup pyojeokchigi).
  19. Moving the left foot, turn 90 degrees counter clockwise into a left forward stance (wen apkubi) and execute a left low section block (araemakki), followed by a reverse inner mid section block (momtong anmakki), right arm.
  20. Execute a right front kick (oreunbal apchagi). Before setting the right foot down, jump forward into a rear cross stance (dwit koaseogi), left foot behind right, and execute a back fist strike (deungjumeok apchigi) with Kihap.

Moving the left foot, turn counter clockwise returning to the ready stance (junbiseogi).
