CHIL Jang

The following is a written version of Chil Jang the seventh of the Taeguek Poomse. The techniques are also written in Korean in brackets adjacent.

This poomse is for blue belt red tag (3th Kup) students in order to obtain their red belt (2th Kup).

From ready stance (junbiseogi):

  1. Move the left foot to the left tiger/cat stance (wen beomseogi) and execute a right inner mid section palm heel block (batangson momtong makki).
  2. Execute a right front kick (oreunbal apchagi). Set the right foot back into left tiger/cat stance (wen beomseogi) and execute an inner mid section block (momtong anmakki), left arm.
  3. Turn to the right into a right tiger/cat stance (oreun beomseogi) and execute a left inner mid section palm heel block (batangson momtong makki).
  4. Execute a left front kick (wenbal apchagi). Set the left foot back into right tiger/cat stance (oreun beomseogi) and execute an inner mid section block (momtong anmakki), right arm.
  5. Moving the left foot, turn 90 degrees into a left back stance (wen dwitkubi) and execute a low knife hand guarding block (sonnal arraemekki).
  6. Moving the right foot step forward into right back stance (oreun dwitkubi) and execute a low knife hand guarding block (sonnal arraemakki).
  7. Moving the left foot, turn 90 degrees clockwise into a left tiger/cat stance (wen beomseogi) and execute an augmented inner mid section palm heel block (batangson kodureo momtong anmakki), right arm.
  8. Without moving your feet, twist the upper half of your body to execute a right backfist (deungjumeok apchigi).
  9. Turn 180 degrees clockwise into a right tiger/cat stance (oreun beomseogi) and execute an augmented inner mid section palm heel block (batangson kodureo momtong anmakki), left arm.
  10. Without moving your feet, twist the upper half of your body to execute a left backfist (deungjumeok apchigi).
  11. Turning 90 degrees counter clockwise, draw the left foot to the right, making a close stance (moaseogi) and execute a covered fist (bojumeok).
  12. Step forward with the left foot into a left forward stance (wen apkubi) and execute a scissors block (kawimakki).
  13. Step forward with the right foot into a right forward stance (oreun apkubi) and execute a scissors block (kawimakki).
  14. Moving the left foot, turn 270 degrees counter clockwise into a left forward stance (wen apkubi) and execute a mid section opening/wedge block (momtong hechomakki).
  15. With the left foot fixed, open the hands and execute a right knee strike (oreunbal mureupchigi). As you pull downward into the strike, clench the fists. Jump forward into a left rear cross stance (wenbal dwi koaseogi) and execute a double uppercut (dujumeok jechojireugi).
  16. With the right foot fixed, step the left foot back into a right forward stance (oreun apkubi) and execute a low section cross block (otkoreo araemakki).
  17. Moving the right foor, turn 180 degrees clockwise into a right forward stance (oreun apkubi) and execute a mid section opening/wedge block (momtong hechomakki).
  18. With the right foot fixed, open the hands and execute a leftt knee strike (wenbal mureupchigi). As you pull downward into the strike, clench the fists. Jump forward into a right rear cross stance (oreunbal dwi koaseogi) and execute a double uppercut (dujumeok jechojireugi).
  19. With the left foot fixed, step the right foot back into a left forward stance (wen apkubi) and execute a low section cross block (otkoreo araemakki).
  20. Moving the left foot, turn 90 degrees counter clockwise into a left walking stance (wen apseogi) and execute a left outward backfist strike (deungjumeok bakkatchigi).
  21. Without moving the left foot, execute a right target kick (pyojeokchagi). Stepping down into a horse riding stance (juchumseogi), execute a right target elbow strike (oreunpalkup pyojeokchigi).
  22. With the right foot fixed, draw the left foot slightly forward itno a right walking stance (oreun apseogi) and execute a right outward backfist strike (deungjumeok bakkatchigi).
  23. Without moving the right foot, execute a left target kick (pyojeokchagi). Stepping down into a horse riding stance (juchumseogi), execute a left target elbow strike (oreunpalkup pyojeokchigi).
  24. With the feet fixed, execute a left single knifehand mid section side block (wen hansonnal momtong yopmakki).
  25. Pulling the opponent with the left hand, step forward with the right foot into a horse riding stance (juchumseogi) and execute a right mid section side punch (momtong yopjireugi) with KIHAP.

Moving the left foot, return to the ready stance (junbiseogi).
