Assigned to create our own yellow pages, my group and I wrote about the United States from about 1890s to 1920s. We created this timeline to better understand the drastic changes that occurred in the United States. From the annexation of Hawaii to the end of Imperialism, we discussed these topics in the same way one would write from this time period. We incorporated advertisements and ‘humors of the day’ which were very tasteful at the time.

This project was helpful in terms of understanding the world as it moved from the first world war to the second. It was extremely useful in researching how society functioned at the time and the course of the US going forward. I also learned the many policies that the US had at the time. This was interesting to compare to how the US government runs today. Many of these ideas can be seen in US politics today, though I can also understand how the US changed greatly during the Great Depression, World War II and the Cold War. It is enlightening to see how the US’ relations today have grown from these old policies.
