In my CCP Political Science course, it was necessary to complete about five hours of community service. This is very important to JAGS to volunteer your time and support the community around you. I volunteered at the Jackson Boy’s Volleyball games at the concession stand. My brother played volleyball, so my family is very involved in the organization and helps out with different events during the season. I was able to run the concession stand with a few other JAGS students. Because of this, I was able to talk with them and connect with the underclassman in the academy.
This opportunity did not change my opinion, but it furthered the drive of JAGS to continue to aid the community. Many of the parents were grateful for our time and continuously thanked me for my contributions. I did this community service twice, but the first time I ran the concession stand by myself. It was a great experience to understand the responsibilities it takes to run something but also put me into a new situation I had not been in before. It is something that I would definitely do again to support the local sports teams and organizations.
