(Personal Copy) French 2 - Regions In France

In this project, my group and I explored two specific provinces in France, Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Rhone-Alpes. I enjoyed learning about these smaller aspects of France rather than the large cities that everyone knows about, such as Paris or Versailles. It was educational to learn about the major industries from each area. France is a major contributor to perfume, especially from Alpes-Côtes d’Azur and Rhônes-Alpes. Through my journey with the French language, I find it incredibly interesting to learn about French culture and other French speaking countries. It’s interesting to compare these places to the United States and the traditions that we celebrate. In Nice, France, there is a famous carnival that occurs every year with bright floats, music, and performances.

I enjoyed sharing this presentation with our other classmates. I found it interesting the many celebrations that each province has. It made me think about the different traditions that only happen in my region. Culturally, many of France’s celebrations are celebrating the ending or beginning of a season, such as the Printemps de Perouges or the Fete des lumieres. Compared to US holidays or even local celebrations there doesn't seem to be anything quite the same. I enjoy making cultural comparisons and think that it’s extremely beneficial to becoming globally competent.
