As of January 2021, I was inducted into the National French Honors Society or Société Honoraire de Français (SHF). To be accepted, I needed to maintain a 90% in French and at least 80% in my other classes. This honors society has allowed me to expand my French abilities. At our monthly meetings, we speak in french about current events, future SHF meetings and events, and community service opportunities.

Due to COVID-19, it has been a little difficult to do community service with school restrictions. We were able to complete a few drives, collecting shoes for an international organization. We also wrote letters to elderly people in French speaking regions to help brighten their mood during the pandemic. We also dive into more cultural aspects of different holidays and celebrations. My french speaking abilities have improved greatly since being accepted into SHF.. The honors society has been a great opportunity to communicate with other students who also share a passion for the french language.
