La Gauche: Les Partis Politiques (The left: Political parties)

In French IV, I was introduced to French political parties and their views. My group was assigned ‘La Gauche’ or the left. Marine is my ‘french’ name. We explored multiple different leftist parties and their political beliefs, leaders, and its similarities and differences from the United States’ leftist parties. The year I completed this project was the same year as the French 2022 presidential election. Because of this, we followed the election and learned in depth the political system.

This project was extremely informational to me. I found it interesting to learn about a different country’s government and its political parties. Many of these are similar to US political parties. I enjoyed being able to make comparisons between the US government and France’s. It was interesting to learn that France has a multi-party system, unlike the United States. It really added to my global understanding of politics and how different US politics can be from different parts of the world. France has multiple parties in each the left, center, and right, whereas the US has only Democrats and Republicans who greatly influence politics. Overall, this project expanded my global perspective and understanding of global politics.
