Selects appropriate methods and tools to collect, record, analyze, and evaluate data to meet the goals of the investigation, and considers the limitations of the methods or tools.

Analyzes patterns and relationships in the research claims or data using appropriate grade level application of mathematical or statistical techniques and draws plausible conclusions about the scientific question, hypothesis or research thesis. Analyzes and interprets the impact of inconsistencies or error in the data or research.

During this lab, my lab group and I correctly recorded measurements of the solvents and different equipment used. We used this lab to calculate the salt percentage of a salt solution. Looking back on this lab, I realize how I understood each of the tools needed to execute the lab. In the beginning of the school year, we learned the many different equipment needed for chemistry labs. Using the equipment was not difficult, but remembering the use of each instrument and executing the lab in a scientific setting was challenging for the first time. This lab was one of the first we completed for the school year.

At the end of the lab, I was able to draw conclusions on possible errors that occurred during our experiment. I was able to think critically about the many confounding variables in our experiment. I found this educational method to look back on our lab and communicate with the class what we could have done differently to make our results more accurate. I also found it interesting to compare our results to other groups and discuss the differences and difficulties during the actual lab.
