Samba Tuan has lots of geese and is a large lake. Although only around half of the lake can be fished this is more than enough and most of the swims on the near bank produce well. There are huts dotted around and the lake is decent enough for 50/baht a rod; certainly better than many I have fished at in Thailand.

It has nice rooms (see pictures) that are about 50m from the bank. Staying in these rooms also gives the advantage of being able to fish into the night whereas regular day anglers have to leave by 1800. It was nice having a room by the lake and great to have a bit of A/C, clean toilet and a shower throughout the day.

Fishing here is mainly with the float and feeder with bread and ram for the Mekong. Consistent casting to the same spot seemed to get the fish on the bait. For the Siamese it is fishing on the bottom with a feeder and pop-up. Fishing from 1800 onward seems to produce the Siamese more than fishing during the day.

Overall, a really nice big lake with a good number of species with a bargain price of just 50 baht a rod. A pretty chilled place with friendly local anglers and a good atmosphere. Well worth a visit!
