John A Morrison

John A. (Archibald) Morrison (b. 1876 d. September 5, 1943). John A lived in the Fish Creek area. He was well respected in the community. His father was William P and Mother Mary.

His wife is Nora V. Ayres (b. 1879 d. 1954).

John A and Nora are both buried in the Gilliam Cemetery, east of Gilliam (see below). They had two sons,

  • William A. (b. 1909 d. 1927) who drowned in a farm pond at age 17, and

  • John A. Jr. (John A. Jr. married later in life and lived in Katy Texas). B. August 25, 1904 D. January 6, 1962 Buried Katy Magnolia Cemetery. He was a pharmacist (Texas Death Cert 15172).

  • An infant daughter named Mary died at birth (March 9, 1927, it was three months later that William A. drowned). All are buried at the Gilliam, MO Cemetery.

The pond where William A. drowned is reported to be a large sink hole from a collapsed cave and can still be viewed today although it is rather shallow and filling in from a farmed field around it.

Census 1910 had him living in Custer, Oklahoma. His Occupation was a book keeper.

Census 1920 Had him living in Clay, Saline County, MO. His occupation was a farmer

Census 1930 Had him living in Clay, Saline County, MO. His occupation was a farmer. He rented his home and had a "Radio Set."

Census 1940 Had him living in Clay, Saline County, MO. His occupation was a farmer. He rented his home. He had an 8th grade education.
