Ella E. Herren, 95, of McPherson, died March 31, 2003. She was a retired cook at Kansas Wesleyan University.

Survivors include: son, Jay Herren, McPherson; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was at 2 p.m. today at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, Salina. Burial will be in the Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army of Salina or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

LINDSBORG - Karen J. Olson, 57, died Friday, April 24, 2009. She was born Dec. 1, 1951, in Salina, to Joseph and G. Joanne (Herren) Patterson. Karen was a librarian for the past 20 years of her life. She is survived by her husband, David R., and son, Davin, of the home; son, Morgan, of Hays; and daughter, Clarissa, of Salina. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg, with family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bethany Home Chapel, Lindsborg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lindsborg Swedish Folkdancers Foundation (through the Smoky Valley Foundation). The Norwegian Arbol Society advocates that flower and herb seeds be scattered in appropriate places.
