Name history: Mildred's given name was in Swedish, but anglicized for her birth certificate. Originally it was Millie Theresa.
Education: Mildred attend the Swedsburg rural school (Dist #81) and graduated from Lindsborg High School in 1923. She later attended Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kansas and Kansas State Teachers College where she received a teaching certificate. Mildred taught at the Olive Springs School (Dist #2) near Roxbury in her early years. There is a teacher's certificate from the "The Palmer Method of Business Writing" with Mildred's name dated August 1, 1926 and signed by A.M. Palmer. Palmer was well known for his teaching and textbooks on writing of the time. Certificate was from Chicago.
Johnson-Crabtree
The marriage of Miss. Millie Johnson of Roxbury, Kansas to Mr. Earl E. Crabtree of Kansas City, Missouri, took place on June first at one o'clock at the home of the groom's brother, Mr. And Mrs., G. F. Crabtree, in the presence of immediate relatives, with Dr. Satterfield of the Forest Avenue Baptist Church officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Bettie Johnson. She is a graduate of Lindsborg High School, and has taught in the rural schools of McPherson County for the past six years. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Crabtree of Holden, Missouri, and is employed at Sears Roebuck and Company of Kansas City.
The young couple left immediately after the wedding for a trip to the Ozark Mountains and a visit with the bride's people at Roxbury, Kansas. On their return after June fifteenth, they will be at home in Kansas City, Missouri.
