Karl was born on 11 October 1876 in Rheinsheim, Germany, the son of Karolina Brechi and Raimund Herberger. He married Christine L. Ahnefield (Ahnefeld?), February 1901. She was born on 3 February 1881 and died on 24 February 1925. Karl died on 14 July 1939. He died in his vehicle while returning his sister Lena Gift to Oklahoma. He had a massive heart attack and fell over dead while driving from Missouri to Oklahoma. Lena was able to gain control of the vehicle and guide it to the edge of the road. The vehicle in which Karl died was not driven thereafter but was

owned by a son for many, many years. I do not know what happened to it.

Eventually the farm was sold after passing to a son. At the sale Walter Henry William Herberger purchased a kettle which was used to render hogs and gave it as a present to the first wife of Warren Burge, Patricia Ann Browzoski, who still has it and uses it for flowers.

At the same sale there was a wagon which Walt had driven home as a child when it was first purchased it. He also purchased this wagon and it remains with his widow in Indianola, Iowa. Glady Herberger.

After his wife's death Karl went to Kansas City and came back with a new wife. She was not well liked. After Karl died suddenly the family had his body exhumed for an autopsy as it was wondered about his death. Nothing unusual was found. The widow was offered a sum of money and asked never to return. I do not know her name at present.
