James Albort Jordan


Born: Feb 23, 1841 in Albornacle County, Virginia

Died: June 26, 1899

Buried: *Fewl-Blevins Cemetery, Henry County, MO


Married: Annie Rebecca Jane Sharp Abt. September 1, 1870 She was born August 3, 1850 and *died November 17, 1900. Annie is described as "energetic, hardworking."


Resided in Pocahontas County West Virginia, later moved to Odessa, MO, then to Lucas, MO (Southeast of Urich). He was a carpenter. Both were "faithful" members of the Methodist Church at Lucas (church still present).


James served the south in the Civil War


James' parents were Albert Jordan (b. July 11, 1811 d. Oct. 5, 1890) and Sarah Wyatt Ross (b.July 15, 1810 d. Oct 6, 1898). Albert's grandfather was named John.

In conclusion I will say to the children, weep not as those who have no hope, but live up to Mother's teachings and example and we feel all will be well. May you look to him who doeth all things well, and say, "Dearest mother thou hast left us, But 'tis God who hath berht (berth) us, He can all our sorrows heal.

Above - Fewl-Blevins Cemetery is four and one-half miles south of Urich, Missouri (west central Missouri, an hour south of Odessa). Cemetery sits on a hill overlooking bottom land to the north. Jordan stone is in the far distance, just left of the gate. The cemetery is small containing about 40 grave
