Compartment Floor Removal

So what do you do when the frame has had 5 coats of paint. Obvious, start ripping the floor up. Well it had to be done before the body could be lowered back on to the frame as the floor where the compartments should be had to be replaced. The wood was either rotten, split or generally beyond repair. As each plank was secured to the main floor timbers, it wasn't easy removing the screws and extricating the planks, especially as they are tongued and grooved.

In many cases the only option was to cut and chisel sections of the planks out just so that we could get some movement (as can be seen on the left hand side of the bottom three planks. Good progress has been made with at least two compartment floors removed.
