Resumo: Os passes estão, originalmente, ligados às práticas do magnetismo, mas foram amplamente adotados pelo movimento espírita. Embora Kardec tenha usado poucas vezes a palavra passes nas principais obras da Doutrina Espírita, fenômenos relacionados como a mediunidade de cura e a imposição de mãos têm bases doutrinárias. As práticas de passes adotadas pelo movimento espírita apresentam uma multiplicidade de técnicas cuja coerência doutrinária nunca foi analisada. As obras veiculadas no meio espírita que propõem e ensinam as técnicas de passes não apresentam uma uniformidade de conceitos e podem se afastar da coerência doutrinária. Neste artigo, apresentamos o primeiro estudo reflexivo sobre as bases doutrinárias das técnicas de passes. Para isso, primeiro, revisamos o entendimento doutrinário sobre a forma de emitir e receber fluidos espirituais, segundo o espiritismo. Em seguida, analisamos a (in)coerência doutrinária das técnicas de passe mais comuns. Depois, refletimos sobre a validade de alguns argumentos usados em defesa do uso de tais técnicas. Por fim, mostramos evidências científicas experimentais em desfavor do uso de técnicas de passes. Propomos a adoção da prática mais simples de passes espíritas, aliás originalmente proposta por Herculano Pires: a imposição de mãos.

Abstract: The "passes" are practices of laying on of hands originally linked to the old theories of Animal Magnetism, but widely adopted by the spiritist movement. Although Kardec has rarely used the word passes in the main books of the Spiritist Doctrine, the healing mediumship phenomena is known to be well described within the Spiritism. The laying on of hands practices adopted by the spiritist movement present a multiplicity of techniques involving movements of hands and arms, whose coherence with the Spiritist Doctrine has never been verified or analised. The books that propose and teach those techniques of "passes" do not present a uniformity of concepts and might present concepts that differ from that of the Spiritist Doctrine. In this article, we present the first reflexive study on the spiritist doctrinal bases of techniques of laying on of hands. In order to achieve this, first, based only on the fundamentals of the Spiritist Doctrine, I review the spiritist understanding of how a person or a Spirit emits and receives spiritual fluids. Then, I analyze the doctrinal (in)coherence of the most common movements-based techniques of laying on of hands used by the spiritist movement. The validity of some arguments used in defense of the use of such techniques are also analised. Finally, I show experimental scientific evidence against the need for the use of such techniques of laying on of hands. We propose the adoption of the simplest practice of spiritist passes, originally proposed by Herculano Pires: the simple (with no movements) laying on of hands.
