Resumo: A prece é fundamental para o processo evolutivo do Espírito e consiste em fórmula básica da renovação íntima. Dentro do movimento espírita, além dos objetivos individuais, a oração tem propósitos coletivos relevantes para o bom andamento dos trabalhos das instituições espíritas. Sendo assim, a qualidade das preces, em termos de forma e principalmente conteúdo, pode representar aspecto importante a ser discutido racionalmente na busca pela melhoria espiritual pessoal e no crescimento da qualidade dos trabalhos do grupo espírita. O aspecto religioso do Espiritismo requer significativo nível de fé raciocinada em busca de uma espiritualidade mais elevada. Nesse contexto, o capítulo vigésimo oitavo de O Evangelho Segundo o Espiritismo tem sido alvo de discussões a respeito da sua importância. Alguns autores insistem que este capítulo representa um excessivo desdobramento do aspecto religioso da Doutrina Espírita. O presente artigo abrange um estudo a respeito do tema, apresentando evidências de que tais opiniões não estão em conformidade com o pensamento de Allan Kardec. Além disso, também propõe uma reflexão sobre a forma e o conteúdo das preces que são enunciadas em reuniões públicas nas casas Espíritas.

Abstract: The prayer is fundamental for the evolutive process of the Spirit. It consists in a basic formula for the inner renovation. Within the spiritist movement, besides individual benefits, the practice of prayer aims the equilibrium and goodness of all activities of spiritist institutions. Therefore, the quality of a prayer, in terms not only of form, but also its contents, can represent an important aspect to be rationally discussed in view of the efforts towards our spiritual advance with good consequences for the quality of the spiritist activities. The religious aspect of Spiritism requires significant level of rational faith in order to find out a more elevated spirituality. In this context, the 28th chapter of The Gospel According to Spiritism has became a matter of many discussions regarding its importance within the Spiritist Doctrine. Some researchers think that this chapter represents an excessive unfolding of the religious aspect of Spiritism. This paper presents a study about this subject, pointing out evidences that the above thought from those researchers are not in agreement with Allan Kardec’s thoughts about that. Besides, this paper also proposes a reflection about the form and contents of a prayer that are commonly used in public meeting inside the spiritist institutions.
