Resumo: O fenômeno de transporte consiste da introdução ou retirada de objetos materiais de um recinto através da ação invisível dos Espíritos. Embora este fenômeno tenha sido estudado por Kardec, os mecanismos físicos do fenômeno de transporte ainda permanecem desconhecidos. Há na literatura espírita duas propostas distintas para explicar o fenômeno: i) possibilidade de desintegração e reintegração das moléculas do objeto transportado ou das paredes do recinto, defendida por Ernesto Bozzano; e ii) possibilidade do objeto ser movido através de uma quarta dimensão espacial, defendida por Johan Carl Friedrich Zöllner. Neste artigo, analisamos as duas hipóteses em comparação com o conhecimento científico e as explicações contidas em O Livro dos Médiuns (LM). Mostramos que além de explicar o fenômeno e estar de acordo com a Doutrina Espírita, a proposta de Zöllner apresenta muito menos problemas com relação à Física dos materiais do que a proposta de Bozzano. Como a hipótese de Bozzano tem suscitado críticas ao Espiritismo e, em particular, a alguns comentários de Erasto no LM sobre o fenômeno de transporte em recintos fechados, revisamos as explicações de Erasto levando em conta o contexto em que foram escritas para mostrar, afinal, que elas estão corretas e de acordo tanto com as descrições dos fenômenos em si, quanto com relação ao conhecimento científico atual.

Abstract: The transport phenomenon consists of the introduction or remotion of material objects into or from a place through the invisible action of the Spirits. Althoug the phenomenon has been studied by Kardec, its physical mechanisms are not known. The spiritist literature, however, presents two different proposals to explain the phenomenon: i) the possibility of disintegration and reintegration of the molecules of the transported object or of the walls of the enclosure, as defended by Ernesto Bozzano; and ii) the possibility of the object to be moved through a fourth spatial dimension, as defended by Johan Carl Friedrich Zöllner. In this article, we analyze these two hypotheses comparing them to the scientific knowledge and to the explanations contained in The Book of Mediums. We show that besides explaining the transport phenomena, and conform to the Doctrine, the Zöllner’s proposal has much less problems regarding the physics of materials than that of Bozzano’s proposal. As the Bozzano’s hypothesis has raised criticisms against the Spiritism and, in particular, to Erasto’s comments in The Book of Mediuns about the transport phenomenon from or to closed rooms, we review the Erasto’s explanations taking into account the context where they were written to show, at the end, that they are correct and in accordance to both the descriptions of the phenomena themselves and the current scientific knowledge.
