Annual Appeal:


Held back in March 2020 due to COVID

Envelopes had been sealed and stamp in March to distribute. Because the cost to purchase stamps and new envelopes would be over $500 there was a suggestion to create a sticker on the front of the envelope that briefly explains what had happened and the the importance of the appeal.

KHS Website has been updated with a link to the VPA Boosters located under the “LINKS” category.


Calendar has been included on the KHS website for all VPA Events.


VPA website has been updated to include a registration for students and parents. This will allow the VPA to share photos of students participating VPA events.

Drama Update:

  • Looking into joining the International Thespian Society

  • Theater lighting is not working properly. School is on top of it

  • Looking into utilizing the theater to hold socially distant events. No more than 50 people to view live streams.

  • Looking into purchasing cameras using COVID funds available - there are COVID funds available for the Arts.

  • Fall Show: Year without a Santa Clause, will take place the week after Thanksgiving. Will use character voices, piped in music, sound boards and video.

  • Looking into requesting ballet bars



Band Update:

  • Utilizing Smart Portal to assist with at home and in person

  • Jazz Band is starting soon

  • Calendar has not been updated yet because they are not solid on festival dates. They are happening but all will be virtual.

  • Looking into masks for the band


Chorus Update:


  • Festivals will be virtual

  • Masks are back ordered

  • 20 Ukuleles were purchased for a new Ukulele ensemble

  • MMEA (Maine Music Educators Association)

  • Advocacy for advancement in music education in Maine. Parents are encouraged to spread the word about this organization and provide support.


Art Update:


  • Looking for financial support ($5 per student) to submit student artwork to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

  • Scholastic Art and Writing Awards is open for submission. We are looking for huge participation in this, this year. Deadline is Dec. 4th. Students should see their art teacher for more info. Or feel free to submit on their own. https://www.artandwriting.org/

  • Teaming up with the elementary and middle school to possibly put together a virtual art show and newsletter


Emma to look at a grant from the Dion Trust to apply for funding to help with master classes, instrument repair, etc.
