KHS VPA Meeting Minutes 01/26/22

Attendees:

Emma Hauser (President), Rose Hines (Secretary), Connie Plaisted (VP of Concessions), Denise Hammond (VP Tickets & Ushering), Robin Parsons (VP at Large), Katie Mooney, Eric Desmarais, Laurie Ellis, Emily Valentine, Rebecca Patterson

Departmental Updates: Music News -

• The television for the hallway in the VPA department has been approved

• The new music sweatshirts are loved and much appreciated and worn proudly

• The in person concert was a success and may still be able to be viewed

• Eric’s cousin is a professional musician living in NYC and Eric is working on collaborating

with him to produce a professional composition with the KHS Band kids. This is something that will be filmed and possibly be performed live. This is currently for the band only.

Art News -

• Approved request to cover the scholastic arts competition

• Looking into creating a calendar of award winning high school art work for a profit

Theater News -

• Murder on the Orient Express will take place on 2/9 - 2/12 @7pm Ticket will e $5 & $10

• Purchase tickets https//www.brownpapertickets.com/event/5320863

• Funding for the theater - discussions will continue to take place between Dennis St. Pierre,

the administration and the school board to try and increase the budget for high school productions. Covid has severely impacted the ability to raise money for the theater by way of ticket sales and shows will need more funding.

Board Updates -

• We are still looking for 2 more board members to join the VPA boosters and a a member to take of the coordination of the CLYNK bags

• The Annual Appeal committee will start coordinating tasks that need to take place to get starting on the appeal.

• Boston trip agenda is complete. Currently looking into transportation options. Also looking into smaller fundraisers to get the kids involved and support the trip.

• We will allocate $750 to 4 scholarship recipients this year. The committee will include Rose Hines, Robin Parsons, Connie Plaisted.

• The instrument drive is still on the table.

• Looking into possible having concessions for the shows, packaged cookies and waters for

people on their way out of the show.
