HMS at The Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Whitby 5th & 6th September

Post date: Sep 02, 2015 5:40:40 PM

We hope that you will be able to come to see us at The Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Grape Lane, Whitby this coming weekend. This will be the 19th consecutive year that we have been invited by the Trustees, it being both a privilege for HMS and the highlight of our year.

During both days we will be in the museum doing our 'usual' things and we will have our large tent in the yard so there will be practical activities to engage with during the day . Our ladies will be in their usual place inside.

The Captain Cook Museum's theme this year is 'Fashion and Fibres'

Apart from the emphasis on clothing and fashion, we will be demonstrating and encouraging knot-tying and splicing with our visitors , laying on a small demo of how to make rope from natural fibres and then use it to learn or practice tying knots. A must for children young and old(er)...

Our established surgery, purser, carpenter and chart-making demonstrations will be there as usual.
