Welcome to Rebecca, Suzanne and Jenice's 2018-19 1st/2nd Grade ICT Class!

July 2018

Dear Students and Families,

Happy summer everyone! We hope you are all enjoying your vacation. We are Suzanne Budesa and Rebecca Overbagh. We will be your 1st/2nd grade co-teachers for the 2018-2019 school year.

About Suzanne:

This will be my tenth year as a 1st/2nd grade classroom teacher at the Earth School. Prior to being a classroom teacher, I was an America Reads tutor and a substitute teacher-- all at the Earth School. I majored in Metropolitan Studies in college, so I am particularly excited for our core studies this year. I am looking forward to building our community with the new members and those who will be returning in September.

About Rebecca:

This will be my sixth year as a 1st/2nd grade teacher at the Earth School. Before joining the Earth School, I taught 2nd and 3rd grades at a private school in Manhattan. I also taught English to young children in Nara, Japan. I’m looking forward to this school year! I am eager to get to know the new students and families in our classroom community, and am looking forward to continuing to work with the returning second graders.

This school year our core curriculum will focus on the waterways of New York City. The students will be learning about the water surrounding our city by investigating topics such as the water cycle, landforms, animals of the waterways, how people depend upon water, and what we can do to help conserve our resources.

Attached is a supply list for our classroom. Except for the homework folder, our classroom has communal supplies for all to share so please do not put names on any of the items you bring in.

Enjoy the rest of your summer! We look forward to seeing you all in September!

All the best,

Suzanne Budesa and Rebecca Overbagh
