Guangxi (广西; Guǎngxī) is a relatively poor but highly scenic area in southern China. Technically it is known as the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, because of its large Zhuang minority population.

The province is located in Southwest China west of Guangdong Province (Canton) and also contains a significant coastline on the South China Sea, (Beibu Gulf). It shares many characteristics of its equally poorer sister to the north Guizhou due to its mainly rural nature and large minority populations. and The xi and dong suffixes mean west and east, respectively in the Chinese language.

Nanning (南宁; Nánníng) is the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in south-west China. It is a large, modern city and a transport gateway for travellers to and from Vietnam.

Located 53 km from Daxin County, 210 km from Nanning, capital city of Guangxi, Mingshi Scenic Area (明仕田园风景区) is crowned as the “Small Guilin” and a photographer’s heaven.

You’ve probably not heard of Mingshi Tian Yuan before, but if you’re looking for somewhere unspoilt and unoccupied by tourists crowds, Mingshi’s intoxicating rural countryside and surreal mountainous region shaped by Karst landscape have a lot to offer.

Detian Scenic Zone. At 200 meters wide with a 75 meter drop, the Detian waterfall, located primarily on the Chinese side of the Sino-Vietnamese border, is definitely the highlight of the Detian Scenic Zone, as well as being the second largest waterfall along a national border. Because the amount of water cascading down the waterfall differs with each season, the waterfall will change appearance from a raging torrent to a peaceful splash, the upside being that the waterfall is worth visiting year-round. ¥80. edit

Detian Waterfall. Scenic spots are littered around the road besides the waterfall permitting several different angles from which to capture the falls. The scenic route takes one up right besides the waterfall to each of its several different levels. At its base there are several rafts that during high season will take one a few meters out for a close-up shot of the waterfall, though for a rather steep ¥20 fee. Climbing the path besides the Falls is supposed to be especially relaxing do to the high concentration of negative ions in the air. A tiny Buddhist shrine at the top of the Falls completes the image of tranquility.

Tongling Grand Canyon (tōng líng dà xiá gǔ 通灵大峡谷) is located in Jingxi County (jìng xī xiàn 靖西县), Baise City (bǎi sè shì 百色市) of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (guǎng xī zhuàng zú zì zhì qū 广西壮族自治区), along the border of Sino-Vietnamese. It is a canyon of totally enclosed type, with the length of about 1000 meters, and the width of more than 200 meters. It is like a beautiful scar of the earth. The deep valley, clean stream, green vegetation and the highest waterfall in Asia makes the canyon full of livingness and intelligence.

Bama is a small county located in the southwest of China. The population of Bama is about 240,000 but more than 80 people who live in this small city are over 100 years old, and now the number continues to grow. It is one of five "longevity villages" in China where there are over 75 centenarians to every million people. This is a standard set by the United Nations. Visitor can get there by flying from Guilin or Guangzhou to Baise City and then a 1.5 hour drive to Bama.

The village with the greatest number of elderly people is Pingan village which is about 40 minutes drive from Bama. Pingan village is surrounded by green hills and the with clear Panyang River flows through the village. The karst geography is as beautiful as Guilin which is famous for its nature landscape. Pingan Village has 560 villagers with more than 30 of an age of 80 or more. Seven are 100 or more. We visited a number of them while we were in Pingan village.

Sanmenhai is a cave in the Leye-Fengshan geopark in Guangxi, China. The cave is unique in that it features seven skylights that mimic the layout of the constellation Ursa Major (the Big Dipper).

Fengshan County is located in the northwest of Guangxi. The county takes its name from the shape of the mountain range in this region, which resembles a phoenix spreading its wings. The county is situated on a variety of geological formations, including karst, which is a landscape formed from the dissolution of soluble rocks—including limestone, dolomite and gypsum—and is characterized by sinkholes, caves and underground drainage systems. Karst is a rare formation seen in only a few locations worldwide.

Fengshan has been described as the "kingdom of karst and the city of caves." There are more than 20 karst land formations such as huge caves, underground rivers, depressions, karst poljes, and sinkholes. According to statistics, there are 50 caves with chambers having an area of more than 2000 square meters and 19 caves with chambers that have an area that exceeds 10,000 square meters.

The largest caves are the Jiangzhou Underground Corridor, Mawangdong Cave and Gatundong Cave.

Jiangzhou Underground Corridor consists of many smaller caves, shafts and underground rivers. The corridor is 37,939 km (23,574 mi) and has an average slope gradient of 9°. The cave was developed in the Permian Period.

Jiangzhou Underground Corridor is rich in curly crystals, vast sparkling terraces, and colossal stalactites and stalagmites. It has 25 caverns, each having an area of between 4000-18500 square meters.

This meeting involved a power struggle between the leadership of Bo Gu and Otto Braun and the opposition led by Mao Zedong. Chishui scenic area is a famous China’s off the beaten path destination and national scenic region located in Chishui city, northwest of Guizhou Province. This area shows China’s nature at its best. The region features creaks, green forests, waterfalls, seas of bamboo and the amazing Danxia land formation.

Chishui in Chinese means red water. The area got its name from the red sandstones covering the landscape. Additionally, there is a number of rare wild animals you can see. For example bears, tigers, pards, antelopes and macaques. On top of that Alsophila spinulosa or living fossil can be seen almost everywhere in this area. However, the most attractive place here are the Shizhangdong waterfalls.

{%C2%}

The Shizhangdong Waterfalls

These are China’s second largest waterfalls after the Huangguoshan which is one meter longer. The Shizhangdong waterfalls are 76 meters high and 80 meters wide with water falling into a semicircular pool with thunder. On top of having a spectacular setting the falls also have stunning spinulose tree ferns. These make the area even more scenic and beautiful.

On top of these magnificent waterfalls, there are over four thousand waterfalls scattered in the surroundings. If you love nature and would like to explore the unexploited regions in the world, this is the place for you. And you will undoubtedly marvel at how the water flies from the ridges down to the surface of the earth.

Major city southwest China and one of the five national central cities in China

Three Natural Bridges National Geopark (Tian Keng San Qiao) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located about 12 kilometers north of Wulong in Chongqing Municipality, China. The gorge here contains three large natural bridges (actually four, since the first one is a double arch) as well as waterfalls and caves.

http://www.naturalarches.org/gallery-china3bridges.htm

The Three Natural Bridges (simplified Chinese: 天生三桥; traditional Chinese: 天生三橋; pinyin: Tiānshēng Sān Qiáo) are a series of natural limestone bridges located in Xiannüshan Town (仙女山镇), Wulong County, Chongqing Municipality, China.[1] They lie within the Wulong Karst National Geology Park, itself a part of the South China Karst-Wulong Karst UNESCO World Heritage Site.[2] In Chinese, the bridges are all named after dragons, namely Tianlong (天龙桥 – literally Sky Dragon) Qinglong (literally Azure Dragon) and Heilong (黑龙桥 – literally Black Dragon).

Among some of the latest tourism products in China is the new Cloud Bridge or Glass Bridge in Yunyang, Chongqing which is also the world's longest cantilever bridge. This transparent glass skywalk (云端廊桥) located in the Yunyang Longgang Scenic Spot or Longgang National Geological Park was officially opened on the 1st of May 2015 and is still undergoing some minor renovations.

The Cloud Bridge is also built on a cliff which is 718 metres above ground level and is 26.68 metres long. In total, the cliff in Yunyang is 1010 metres above sea level making this one of the highest viewing bridges in the world too. The full completion of this attraction is also scheduled to be done by October 2015, but it is now open to the public.

The beauty about this glass bridge is that visitors can walk on the glass flooring in a loop where they can view the beautiful canyon and river below. The maximum number of people that can go on this cantilever is 30 at one time where they will spend around 20-30 minutes per session.
