Kelvin Chun is an internationally recognized award winning educator, magician, balloon artist and kite enthusiast.

He currently was a Board of Director 7 years and served on committees for 20 years for the Hawaii USA Federal Credit Union.

As a teacher, consultant, lecturer and entertainer, Kelvin has spent over thirty years teaching and entertaining children, adults and educators, the topics of mathematics, technology, mathemagic and kites in the classroom.

As a technology coordinator and mathematics teacher, Kelvin integrated the academic disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) with the K-12 curriculum standards.

He has integrated the curriculum standards of mathematics, science, social studies, and performing arts; and woven his hobbies of technology, magic, kites and balloons, to design innovative technology, mathemagic and kite workshops.

Kelvin has taught elementary and secondary education from K through adult.

He shared his knowledge with students, educators, and entertainers at professional development workshops, courses, and conferences.

Kelvin has performed magic and balloons internationally for all ages. He has also competed against and performed with world class magicians in prestigious international magic competitions at venues such as Reno's Grand Sierra Resort 1,800-seat showroom, featuring the world's biggest stage.

Kelvin is best known for his educational technology background, mathematical teaching capabilities, Asian stage magic, inventive cartoon balloon sculptures and traditional Asian kites.

Kelvin Chun, a technology specialist at Nu'uanu Elementary School, has been named one of three Ed Tech Leaders of the Year by Technology & Learning magazine, a trade publication. His national prestigious awards include being recognized by the Disney American Teacher Award, the All USA Today 2000 First Teacher Team, the George Lucas Educational Foundation, and the International Brotherhood of Magicians, and the Society of American Magicians.

Kelvin has been an educator in the Hawaii Department of Education for over 30 years. He has studied and taught emerging educational software and hardware technologies since 1977:

- Technology Coordinator / Librarian / Multimedia Facilitator

1995 - Present: Serve as computer consultant for entire school - Train students, administrators, teachers, and staff in use of educational and administrative software. Establish technology clubs and administrator for Macintosh and Windows file servers. Establish video studios with interactive network communication.

- Professional Development Teacher Trainer

1993 - Present: University of Hawaii, Outreach College: Technology and Math Instructor State/District Summer Institute. Taught 10 summers TECS, ETEC and EDCI courses through College of Continuing Education and the Department of Education. The courses covered topics in technology and mathematics.

- Leeward District Technology Coordinator

1992 - 1995: Campbell Complex/Leeward District Office (11 Schools): Technology Resource Teacher. Assisted the district staff, principals and faculties of the Campbell Complex and Leeward District schools with: general assessment of present and future technological needs; maximum utilization of existing technological resources; teacher inservice training on technology and instructional design.

- Hawaii State Computer Educational Specialist

1990 - 1991: General Education Branch, OIS: Computer Education Specialist II. Planned, designed, and developed the state computer education program for all students, grades K-12. Identified pre-service and inservice training needs of teachers and coordinates with districts in designing training programs.

Kelvin Chun is an award winning teacher, magician, balloon artist and kite engineer.

Kelvin has performed magic and balloon since 1992 and competed in magic and balloon competitions all over the world since 1998. He is currently Hawaii's IBM Territorial Vice President.

He is the only magician in Hawaii who has accomplished so many magic and balloon awards and is recognized internationally for his performing and lecturing abilities.

Kelvin has over 30 years experience as an educator teaching students from grades kindergarten - adult.

He has the experience to communicate effectively with people of all ages and also be a life-long learner. Kelvin was a guest performer at numerous conventions.

He is best known for his educational technology background, stage magic and inventive balloon sculptures.

Throwing a birthday party, company party, or even a wedding - every show is tailored to the client's individual needs. Kelvin performs for people of all ages.

His cartoon balloon and magic show is customized for audiences of any size.

Kelvin has performed at a variety of events including carnivals, 1st birthdays, Christmas parties, and other special events.

The show features Kelvin 's infamous "Cartoon Balloon" twisting and his amazing production of animals.

At Oahu events, the fun filled magic show could include both green male and red female exotic eclectus parrots,

beautiful white doves, and a miniature grey lion head rabbit.

Kelvin blends magic from all over the world. He attends national and international conventions learning magic and balloon techniques that is incorporated in his act.

Kelvin is a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians! The I.B.M. is the world's largest organization for magicians boasting nearly 13,000 members worldwide. With over 300 local groups, called Rings, in more than 73 countries! The I.B.M. is considered to be the most respected organization for amateur and professional magicians in the world!

Kelvin is also a member of the Society of American Magicians, founded on May 10, 1902 in Martinka's famous magic shop in New York City, New York, is the oldest and most prestigious magical society in the world. The S.A.M. offers the opportunity to unite and associate with leaders in the World of Magic - not only professionals, but with amateurs, manufacturers, magic dealers, book authors and magic collectors. Through its monthly publications, annual conventions, and with over 250 "Assemblies" throughout the world, the S.A.M. provides the necessary forum for the advancement of magic through discussions, lectures, research, performances, and exchange of magic secrets within the magic community.

Kelvin has competed in both stage and close-up international competitions for many years and is honored to represent Hawaii.

Kelvin was a 2005 International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) Gold Medal Finalist in the Stage Competition in Reno, Nevada, and a 2005 Society of American Magicians (SAM) Finalist in the Close-Up Competition in Boston.

Kelvin placed 1st in stage magic at the Texas Association of Magician's (TAOM) 2003 Convention, and also the Pacific Coast Association of Magician's (PCAM) 2000 Convention.

Kelvin placed 3rd in the Favorite Routine Contest at the 29th New Zealand International Magicians Convention in Auckland, New Zealand (2008).

Kite Engineer & Enthusiast Asian Kites

Kelvin has over 40 years of kite making and flying experience and has competed in local, national and international competitions.

Recognition

Kelvin competed in the 1989 American Kite Fliers Association National / International Single Line Competition. He is the only kite flier from Hawaii to win an award at this kite convention. Kelvin has strung together three of his Hawaiian / Asian / Filipino kites to place 3rd in the category called "Centipede of Train of Kites."

Roosevelt High School graduate Clarissa Chun (Colorado Springs, Colo.) became the first women's freestyle wrestler to be nominated to her second Olympic Team after her stellar performance at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Wrestling in Iowa City, Iowa, on April 22, 2012.

2008: Women's Freestyle World Championships - First place - Gold Medal - 48 kg

First wrestler from Hawai'i - female or male - to make the U.S. 2008 Olympic Team.
