Kelvin Chun is an award winning teacher, magician, balloon artist and kite engineer.

Kelvin has performed magic and balloon since 1992 and competed in magic and balloon competitions all over the world since 1998. He is currently Hawaii's IBM Territorial Vice President.


He is the only magician in Hawaii who has accomplished so many magic and balloon awards and is recognized internationally for his performing and lecturing abilities.

Kelvin has over 30 years experience as an educator teaching students from grades kindergarten - adult.

He has the experience to communicate effectively with people of all ages and also be a life-long learner. Kelvin was a guest performer at numerous conventions.

He is best known for his educational technology background, stage magic and inventive balloon sculptures.

 

Throwing a birthday party, company party, or even a wedding - every show is tailored to the client's individual needs. Kelvin performs for people of all ages.

 

His cartoon balloon and magic show is customized for audiences of any size.

Kelvin has performed at a variety of events including carnivals, 1st birthdays, Christmas parties, and other special events.

The show features Kelvin 's infamous "Cartoon Balloon" twisting and his amazing production of animals.

At Oahu events, the fun filled magic show could include both green male and red female exotic eclectus parrots, 


beautiful white doves, and a miniature grey lion head rabbit.




It can serve as a wonderful start to a convention or dinner entertainment for a banquet.

Whether appearing in public or private settings, Kelvin offers the same high standards of professionalism and unique entertainment that mesmerizes people of all ages and backgrounds.

Having been an educator, Kelvin believes in the importance of maintaining a good working relationship with clients.

He understands the need to be flexible and to tailor his act to clients' specifications in order to best meet their goals, which may include product marketing, inservice training, or simply entertainment of the highest quality.


Kelvin blends magic from all over the world. He attends national and international conventions learning magic and balloon techniques that is incorporated in his act.


Kelvin is a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians! The I.B.M. is the world's largest organization for magicians boasting nearly 13,000 members worldwide. With over 300 local groups, called Rings, in more than 73 countries! The I.B.M. is considered to be the most respected organization for amateur and professional magicians in the world!


Kelvin is also a member of the Society of American Magicians, founded on May 10, 1902 in Martinka's famous magic shop in New York City, New York, is the oldest and most prestigious magical society in the world. The S.A.M. offers the opportunity to unite and associate with leaders in the World of Magic - not only professionals, but with amateurs, manufacturers, magic dealers, book authors and magic collectors. Through its monthly publications, annual conventions, and with over 250 "Assemblies" throughout the world, the S.A.M. provides the necessary forum for the advancement of magic through discussions, lectures, research, performances, and exchange of magic secrets within the magic community.

Kelvin has competed in both stage and close-up international competitions for many years and is honored to represent Hawaii.



Kelvin was a 2005 International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) Gold Medal Finalist in the Stage Competition in Reno, Nevada, and a 2005 Society of American Magicians (SAM) Finalist in the Close-Up Competition in Boston.

Kelvin placed 1st in stage magic at the Texas Association of Magician's (TAOM) 2003 Convention, and also the Pacific Coast Association of Magician's (PCAM) 2000 Convention.

Kelvin placed 3rd in the Favorite Routine Contest at the 29th New Zealand International Magicians Convention in Auckland, New Zealand (2008).

He also placed 2nd in the PCAM 2003 Balloon Olympics and the PCAM 98' Children's Entertainer competition.

He has been a guest performer and lecturer at numerous international conventions and events from around the world.

These international conventions included the 29th New Zealand International Magicians Convention in Auckland, New Zealand (2008), International Fellowship of Christian Magician's Convention 2008, SAM 2007 Dallas, Texas Association of Magician's Convention (TAOM), Japan Cup 2004,

Hong Kong International Magic 2003 Convention, Hong Kong International Magic Convention 2002, International Fellowship of Christian Magician's Convention 2001-2004, Columbus Magi-Fest Convention 2002, and TAOM 2002.
 

Kelvin also continuously strives to improve his performances by traveling around the world to view great routines and compete with outstanding individuals. He often travels to Asia about four times a year. Kelvin strives to perfect his routine in front of the toughest critics - Magicians. Magicians know the performing art and is aware of methods and techniques used. By participating in international conventions, the universal language is magic. Secrets are shared from many cultures. Kelvin selects routines that fit his performing style and keeps up-to-date for the 21st century.

2002: The 16th annual Magic Spectacular conjures up a pair of shows on March 16 at the Aloha Theater. This year's featured headliner is magician and ventriloquist Steve Taylor, who will be joined by Honolulu's Kelvin Chun, and local sorcerers The Great Barusky, Arnelio the Great, Alan Konno, Al Gulickto and Ken Broennimann. Proceeds from the 2:30 and 7 p.m. performances will benefit the American Cancer Society.

What makes your magic different from other forms of entertainment?

Magic and balloons are enjoyable for all ages. My magic includes a wide production of animals (doves, parrots, and a rabbit) and a blend of eastern and western art. My balloons are popular cartoon characters that is familiar to all ages.

I design my magic to popular music and will have a lasting impact on your guests so they will talk about your event for years!

How do I get booked?

Call to make a reservation. Bookings are on a first-come, first-serve basis. I would recommend to book about 3 months prior to the event.
