Online registration

From the 2nd September, the online module selection task will open. This means that from that day you can indicate which modules you would like to study in 2023-2024.

But first, before you can make an informed choice, you need to understand what modules you can take according to your programme, your preferences and where you want you degree to take you. So make sure you do so by going to the pages on BA Modern Languages and Cultures or Dual Degrees with Languages and Cultures.

2. Make up your mind

Before you start filling out the online form, you should have found out how many optional modules you can choose. Your CORE modules will already appear on the system.

Note down which modules you would like to do. Each module has a code. That is important because that is the code you type in to find it in the system.*

Once you are pretty confident you know what you are doing, you are ready to register.

*It is possible to adjust and change your choice of modules up until week 2 of semester 1, but it is less hassle to get it right first time.

3. The registration system

Once you know how your degree works, you have read the information and asked advice, you are ready to register.

As early as 2nd September,  you will be able to access an Online module selection task within the Registration system where your modules can be requested. Departments will receive your requests, check your choices and in most cases approve them (some modules, or combinations of modules, might not be possible in your programme).

The module selection task will show your core modules (modules that are compulsory and cannot be changed) and how many remaining credits you need to select for a full set of modules. Within the task, you will be presented with a list of module choices that have been pre-selected by your department. You must select your remaining modules from this list. More information about registration here.

If you are confused, don't worry, that is quite normal, just get in touch with us: slc-enquiries@sheffield.ac.uk

4. What next?

You will be asked to book a slot to pick up your Student Card once you have completed your registration (International students will also have a few more things to complete at that in-person meeting). Try if possible to choose a time that will not clash with any meeting organised by the School.

With you registration sorted you will have time to do some more prep work. It really helps if you have already had a bit of a look around the services you will need. So, here are some suggestions for what to do next.
