Welcome to the School of Languages & Cultures

Make languages part of your degree

If you are studying Economics, Politics, Business Management, History, English, Music or Philosophy but you also enjoy studying languages then there is a way to keep your options open till the end of your first year.

This is how it works: if you can fill your free credits with courses in the School of Languages and Cultures worth 40 credits, you can switch to a Dual Degree with Modern Languages and Cultures at the end of your first year if you so wish.

Which modules should I choose?

You may be able to take as little as 20 credits with us, but if you wish to have the option to study Languages and Cultures as part of your degree, we strongly recommend that you study at least 40 credits (one language & one culture module). This would normally be the core modules for a specific language.
